Born in South Africa and raised in Oxford, UK, I began my career as a professional touring and recording musician at the age of sixteen. As a member of the band Stornoway, I had the incredible privilege of touring the world and playing some of it’s most renowned stages, performing live on the UK’s biggest music television program, “Later...with Jools Holland”, alongside Jay Z, Foo Fighters, Norah Jones, and Sting, recording live sessions in the infamous Abbey Road studios for mainstream BBC Radio programs, being interviewed by top music journalists as well as performing on some of the BBC’s main prime-time radio and television political programs including Andrew Marr’s talk-show, and receiving a silver record from BMI for record sales - all before the age of 25. Along with being a freelance drummer, I started teaching private drum lessons at an after school program at the Trinity School in NYC from 2010 until 2017. Later on that year I started teaching at another after school program at the Village School in NYC until 2018. My teaching experiences go back at least 15 years.  I started when I was in college and have never stopped teaching.  In my lessons I focus on the whole child.  Together we find out where their strengths lie and capitalize on those strengths.  Music is supposed to be fun and that is one of my goals is to keep it fun and exciting for the student.  I find it is best to expose the student to all types of music new and old and everything from classical to hip hop. This is because the techniques used on snare can transfer to every other percussive instrument. It also is a good warmup and sets us up nicely to continue the lesson on whatever the student's focus is While covering fundamentals I like to mix in solos and etudes that utilize whatever techniques we may be covering.
