I am a successful instructor, drummer and musician who enjoys sharing knowledge and helping sudents acheive thier musical goals. I graduated from Temple University in Philadelphia with a Bachelor's degree in Jazz / Commercial music performance. After college I spent years honing my playing skills in all types of musical situations as well as teaching, and working as a recording engineer. I also spent 2 years studying at the Drummer's Collective in New York City where I worked with some of the best teachers in the country.  I have had experience playing and teaching rock, jazz, funk, r&b, and blues as well as collegiate marching/ drumline and orchestral percussion ensemble experience. I began teaching at Humboldt State University in 2010, through an education program for children ages 6-15. During the year and a half I worked there, I discovered a genuine love for sharing the passion and enthusiasm I had for music with my students. After 2 1/2 more year of leading student ensembles, teaching children and adults individually and in groups, and giving private lessons out of my home, I have amassed enough experience to feel confident teaching any student passionate about learning. We play the full drum set right away, at the first lesson. It is not necessary to own a drum set for 3-4 months, in which time students practice at home on couches or beds where pillows represent the different parts of the drum set. I can offer advice when it comes to equipment purchases. I have a method in place for my beginners: a combination of reading, technique and coordination exercises, jamming with favorite songs, and studying their favorite drummers. Read More
