In my 30 years of teaching experience, and being exposed to many methods, I chose to mix and match them to each student's ability and disposition. Each student is different with variety of expectations, abilities and interests, so as I get to know them, I try to best cater to their needs and find ways for them to learn while growing and improving on every level, not just musically. My teaching experience dates back to my college days, as I began teaching private lessons part time 10 years ago, and have been consistently teaching students in my home studio for the last 2 years. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument. There is nothing that makes me more proud than to see my student improve and look back at how much progress they have made since they started. I think it is very important for the Student to start playing recognizeable melodies as soon as possible so that they can relate to performing for either a recital or for friendly family and fried rectial so that they can start feeling good about themselves and where they are headed.
