I'm a licensed teacher that enjoys sharing my passion for music. In December 2016, I graduated from Lipscomb University with a Bachelor of Music degree in Instrumental Music Education. Performing as part of Cedar Creek Community Band, Marching Band, Wind Ensemble, and Orchestra Pit has given me a variety of experiences to inform my teaching. I graduated from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville in 2019 studying flute under Dr. Shelley Binder. There, I double majored in Flute Performance and Musicology. I also minored in Music Business, and Entomology and Plant Pathology. I am a Presser Scholar and was a member of the UT Chancellor’s Honors Program and a Student Ambassador for the University of Tennessee School of Music. I started teaching in 2009 in Mississippi. I taught 6th grade band (beginner), 7th grade band, and high school. I taught in Mississippi for 5 years and just recently moved to Tennessee. While teaching, I've given private lessons to some of my students after school and to some students who did not attend my school. I always encourage doing a recital, entering competitions, and continuing on to college playing their instrument. I love motivating students and challenging them to be the best and nothing less. I have given lessons before when I was in high school. Each student works and learns at their own pace. For beginners, the basics are explored. As they grow more confident we work on more particular subjects like tone, scales, proper breathing. Practice is a must, the will not get anywhere they want to be without constant practice.
