I have performed at Carnegie Hall in flute and competed in the competitive divisions of marching band ranking second place in the Arcadia Division. Setting the pace for succeeding years, that band has now ranked first place in that competition numerous times. I have always had an interest in classical music since I did ballet. YEARS 1-2: BEGINNER LEVEL Foundation-building happens here. Each student learns approximately 30-40 pieces throughout the year, and participates in 2-3 recitals and possibly an adjudicated event. Students finish 1 theory/activity book per year on average. Practice expectation is 10-20 minutes per day, 5-6 days per week. Student music requests are encouraged. YEARS 3-4: LATE BEGINNER LEVEL Continued foundation-building and more creativity start to happen in these two years. I have an interactive yet focused style of teaching. I can(but don't recommend) to use the Suzuki method. I feel that all aspects related to the instruments weigh much importance in teaching the student. However, with the Suzuki method, the student's primary focus is to learn pieces rapidly and climb the level of difficulty as fast as possible. This prevents him/her to fully understand and analyze the piece and lesson and it can also turn the student away from pursuing the instrument further.  Read More
