A graduate from University Miami with several scholarships, as well as finishing up her Master's under scholarship from University of North Texas, she has studied with some of the top instructors in the country. I have found that the most effective way for me to teach is to activate the student's self-motivation, rather than trying to serve as external motivation. We will spend some time discussing the student's goals, whether they are concrete or abstract. I understand that many students have different styles of practicing! For some of my students, we ran lessons like they were drill sessions, and for others, the lessons were all about taking a deeper look into the piece itself and going through passages separately to personalize the performance. I typically begin my young students in the Suzuki Method for Flute, inwhich I have received the training for this method. For older students, I begin them in the Trvor Wye Method for Beginning Flute Students. I supplement both these methods with solos appropriate for their level and goals, such as UIL and other competitions. I have been playing piano since age 6 and clarinet since age 10. During my time at university I was taught to play all of the woodwinds, focused on pedagogy and music technology, and achieved many awards and recognition. My clarinet/woodwind pedagogy instructor was a student of Himie Voxman, author of many woodwind teaching method books.
