I like to start my lessons with sound exercises to establish a good tone and then move on to the more technical part. The lesson usually ends with an etude or piece where we explore ways in which to incorporate the technical work we started our lesson with. I like to show my students how to isolate one specific technical aspect, work on it but also stay aware of the big picture and incorporate their technical skills in the flute repertoire. Read More

I am originally from San Diego, CA, and began playing the flute in my elementary school band. While growing up in San Diego I served as the principal flutist of the San Diego Youth Symphony, and played with local community orchestras. In 2003 I moved to NYC to pursue my Bachelor's Degree at the Manhattan School of Music, after graduating in 2007 I entered the Master's Degree program at The Juilliard School, and finished my degree in 2010. I have a Bachelor of Music as well as two Masters of Music, one in orchestral flute performance and the other specializing in contemporary performance. I enjoy many genres of music and have performed in Cabaret, jazz bands, marching bands, orchestras, chamber ensembles, and more. In May of 2014 I graduated with my Master's degree in flute performance from the Yale School of Music. My musical passion is chamber music, and new music. This focus has led me to found a professional woodwind quintet, Sounding Board, and to pursue my second Master's degree in a specialized contemporary performance program at Manhattan School of Music.
