I have performed in several genres. I started performing in Community orchestras, Santa Monica Symphony and the Burbank Symphony. I have worked as a studio musician several major record companies in the area of flute performance, orchestrating and arranging music for various recording artist. My teaching experience in the Los Angeles Unified School District spans 16 years in instrumental music. I believe to successfully teach a subject matter, an instructor must not only have a thorough knowledge but a concise and clear path of instructions that lead to positive learning outcomes. Practice expectation is 30-45 minutes per day, 5-6 days per week. YEARS 6-8: LATE INTERMEDIATE/EARLY ADVANCED LEVEL Students who stay in lessons for this long have a skill set that sets them up for the rest of their lives. I use a wide variety of methods depending on the student's current ability level, musical preferences, and goals. I'm also willing to work with a method or book that a student is currently using. Generally, my students have a varying ratio of technique/scale study to work on the foundations, an etude/short piece study to help connect musical ideas and teach expression, and a solo piece that is prepared over a long period of time, most likely for a future recital.
