I've been teaching for over 4 years with this last year at Guitar Center in Ogden. I love teaching and finding ways to motivate and get my students excited about learning and progressing on their instrument. I focus on developing a personalized curriculum for each of my students and helping them work toward their musical goals - whether it be casual strumming or more serious pursuits. I teach foundational music theory, fretboard, knowledge, reading/understanding tablature and also basic instrument maintenance. Read More

I encourage my students to practice smart instead of long. This is especially important for young students. I teach my students to self-evaluate their own playing. When difficult areas are recognized, this is where the practicing focus should be. Above all, music should be enjoyable! Hard work disguised as FUN is my goal. I am great at giving positive feedback. I enjoy celebrating success. I feel that it is important to let the student set the pace and then encourage from there. Read More

I approach teaching with starting with a solid foundation for beginners. Starting each lesson with some warm-up exercises to help develop the dexterity and coordination playing the guitar demands. Then we start learning chord structure and scales, starting with the major and minors. I teach them riffs and songs that use the chords we are learning to aid in memory retention. we continue to build on these basics until they have a strong foundation. Read More

My favorite thing in the world is seeing someone I teach fall in love with music. Because of this I find it most important that my students feel comfortable and not rushed or pushed to hard, I believe music comes best when studied at the students own pace. If there is something you want to learn or a goal you create then I will help you get there, if theres something that doesnt make sense and you want to recap it then thats what well do. Read More

I'm a passionate and motivated instructor who loves working with students and sharing my love of music. In 2015, I graduated from the University of Wisconsin Platteville with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Choral and General Music Education. I have taught piano for 14 years, voice for 10 years, and guitar for 3 years. Performing all over the midwest and areas of the east coast has been one of the greater experiences of my life as a musician, and I've had the opportunity to accompany over 30 musicals. Read More

My favorite part about teaching is teaching beginners. It's so much fun to introduce a brand new instrument to someone and show them all that learning music has to offer. I mainly focus on the basics of music, and music theory in order to give students the tools they need to teach themselves when I'm not around, or if lessons have to discontinue for some reason. Once the basics of music theory have been grasped, it makes learning the technical aspects of the new instrument much faster, and easier. Read More
