For beginning students, I start with the Douglas Steensland Flute Student books. For intermediate and advanced students, I focus on memorization of scales in addition to working out of Taffanel and Gaubert's 17 Daily Exercises, etude books (i.e., Melodious and Progressive series), and standard flute repertoire. My goal as a teacher is to help the students improve their overall musicianship, while also addressing each students personal goals. While I generally begin with the Rubank Method and move onto a more personalized approach after 7th or 8th grade, I am always focused on providing the individual student with the best guidance possible. I like to encourage solo performance for friends and family early on to achieve performance experience and mitigate nervousness. If a student is interested in jazz or other styles of improvisation or composition, they will have a chance to get their feet wet in these areas at a young age as well. Read More

 Shows I have recently performed includes Joseph and the Technicolor Dream Coat and Gypsy. Whilst in London, I spent my last two years working with young people of various ages. I worked alongside passionate colleagues to present group musical workshops that may have focused on sound, percussion, composition or with full ensembles. Some of these workshops lasted a day while others lasted a few months. I was also asked by the Royal College of Music Junior Department, who worked with talented musicians aged below 19 or pre-college, to assist in teaching flute students as well as small ensembles.
