Hi! My name is Nash Randall and I just entered my second year at Ohio University dual majoring in Music Education and Performance. I was exposed to music since I was very young, starting from private piano lessons then expanding out to a multitude of other instruments like the flute and clarinet, as well as the trombone and voice, but my main instrument has always been the saxophone. Throughout my high school career, I've participated in a vast amount of extra curricular music activities (jazz band, community bands, musicals, choir groups) as well as achieving high positions in numerous honor bands throughout Ohio. I teach through positive reinforcement and encouragement with a set structure that allows for discipline and certain benchmarks that can determine success and mastery of certain skills. This cannot happen unless the teacher facilitates an environment and space for organic innovation by the student. Read More

My lessons focus on trouble areas identified during the initial lesson. I would develop a plan of attack setting realistic goals that are both measureable, realistic and obtainable to achieve. A usual model lesson would consist of the following segments: 1. Intonation - I would spend about 5-10 minutes in this area training the student to properly find the center of pitch and listen for an adaptive center of pitch. Most flautists aren't playing in a symphony and will be exposed to an ever changing center of pitch. 2. Read More

I feel that I can relate to most students, no matter their skill level or dedication. I found my passion in music later in the game than most, and I know that I can inspire young musicians to be all that they can be. I am primarily a teacher, but I also like to form a friendship with my students. I want to be someone they can look up to and reach out to if need be. Read More

Every lesson, I write memos about assignemnts, and student's progress compare to previous lesson/week. Therefore, students and parents will receive "Progress Results" in every four lessons. (or every first week of the month.) Read More
