I have been teaching for more than 30 years, mostly in the public schools as well as privately. I have instructed large groups and ensembles, as well as smaller musical groups in and out of the public schools. Performing in various Jazz groups throughout the state has enhanced my teaching knowledge in the field of music education. My Masters degree in music education has enabled me to develop as a well rounded instrumental music teacher, and also as a flexible individual when it comes to understanding my students' musical needs. I have seven years of teaching experience from beginners to advanced high school students. My teaching career began in 2015 as a teacher for The Joseph and Anthony Manzi Foundation Summer Band Camp. This camp was where I discovered my love for teaching. In the following years, I gained experience teaching private lessons in both my home studio and students’ homes. This program allowed her to study with Othonas Gkogkas, principal flutist of the Thessaloniki Orchestra. She performed a recital at the University of Macedonia consisting of solo and chamber works. Ms. Kaitlin H. has also attended and performed in masterclasses with Carol Wincenc, Paul Edmund Davies, and Dr. Andrea Loewy. I have played many diverse styles over the years. In addition to being well known in the world of classical saxophone, where I have worked with and studied with several world famous players, I have always enjoyed playing in jazz ensembles and playing clarinet in both chamber music and symphony orchestra settings. Music has given me the opportunity to tour to a dozen countries and perform in some of the world's great concert halls, from Carnegie Hall to Lincoln Center in New York to halls in London, Moscow, Kiev, and Tokyo. After graduating from college I joined the Peace Corps. I spent 2 years in Tehran, Iran playing in the Tehran Symphony Orchestra. I returned to the U.S. and went back to school to get my Masters degree. I worked as a music teacher in the Bronx, N.Y. for several years. After that I worked at an electronic music studio in Hawthorne, N.Y. The studio eventually shut down and I began teaching Band at the Stamford Public Schools where I taught music at the elementary, middle and high school levels. Read More
