I am a classically trained flute player and have had the privilege of playing in ensembles across Long Island and here within the SUNY New Paltz community. I am a passionate flutist that loves teaching flute privately in addition to performing. In May of 2022, I graduated Summa Cum Laude from The Hartt School of Music with a BM in Flute Performance. While I was there, I studied with Janet Arms, flutist of New York City Opera. I have also extensively studied with Dr. Barbara Hopkins, Assistant Principal of The Hartford Symphony Orchestra. I have been teaching for more than 30 years, mostly in the public schools as well as privately. I have instructed large groups and ensembles, as well as smaller musical groups in and out of the public schools. Since then, I have had students intermittently throughout my studies, and I am looking forward to building a permanent studio in the Hudson Valley. I began teaching lessons after my freshman year of college in 2010 and have had students consistently since. I have worked with students from the very beginning stages to those at the college level. My students have successfully auditioned for CMEA festivals (Connecticut Music Educators Association) and NYSSMA festivals (New York State School Music Association). I believe that students learn in different ways. Due to this, my ability to easily relate to students and understand how they learn is one of my greatest assets. Read More
