I teach my students to appreciate the music they make, and to listen to themselves for what is working well, in addition to what can be improved. I began my journey as a musician in Macungie, Pennsylvania. Continuously intrigued by the music world I decided to start studying music more formally at The Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Arts in Bethlehem, PA. My passion for music and art only grew as I was surrounded by other artists who were so engaged in the artforms they produced. In each flute lesson, I typically begin with a bow as respect for myself and the student. We typically start with tonalization warmup from Suzuki Book 1. The student listens and produces the best sound they can make after listening to me. My goal as a teacher is to help them become their own teacher and evaluate the things they can improve upon. For example, for the advanced high school student I often mold my teachings around college audition requirements and all-state, regional band auditions.
