My teaching style is individualized to meet the needs of the students. I like to use a portion of the first lesson to discuss the goals and musical interest of the student regardless of age. I encourage beginner students to learn basic theory to develop rudimentary skills. I then try to incorporate a student’s favorite music into the lesson plans. I also strongly encourage voice and guitar students to write their own music to promote self expression. Read More

For beginners I usually start with a simple melody or riff. I love teaching Painting Black by The Rolling Stones because it is simple to play. Not only that, but it's a song that's easy to identify for most people's ear. I usually take my time allowing the student to learn. One or a few hours are enough to start learning the song. Once I leave, the student's homework is practice as often as possible in order to get some fluency on the instrument. Read More

One of the most critical things about being a musician is the joy of performing. In order to reach this level, a student has to try a lot but also he/she has to enjoy the process. Achieving this balance is the key for every lesson and this is my priority. Setting micro-goals is essential for that and keeps the student motivated. Read More

It is important for students to progress at their own pace. Every student is different and some will be willing to practice for hours every day to get to where they want to be, and others are more casual and may practice less than 20 minutes a day. The important thing to know is no matter what you are doing it is okay, as long as you are having fun or you're doing what you want, or what will make you happy. Read More

I started performing as tenor first when I was 12 years old with the First Baptist Church of Managua City, which they made two annual concerts on the National Theater per year that first would involve performing Classical Music choir performances and the second performance would be dedicated for Christmas, this under the direction of the Jorge Bojorge, who was the director the National Conservatory of Music UPOLI, back then. After I turned 16 and right after I started college I attended the College Choir with one of the most known composers from Nicaragua, Juan Manuel Mena. Read More

My style is open minded. I first try to know the students' goals and prepare a course of action accordingly. Then I try to know how much the students already knows and how much talent they have. That allows me to determine how fast I may go with them or how much I must drill and develop a particular skill before going on. Sometimes if I assess the student is jammed or stressed I deem it necessary to digress a bit into music history , philosophy and other fields related to music that work as a refreshing background and point of rebound to the skill part of the lesson while increase the scholarly knowledge of the student.
