I tailor my teaching to each student's needs and interests. I emphasize overall musicianship in addition to learning to the fundamentals of the particular instrument, splitting most lessons 50/50 between fundamentals on the instrument and musicianship skills such as music theory, sight-reading, sight-singing, playing by ear, and composition or improvisation. I was ableto learn and play four mallet percussion. My marimba set up had crash and splash cymbals, a cow bell (yes a cow bell,the world needs more cow bell, LOL), a brake drum, a djembe and a small set of musical wind chimes all attached to a frame that surrounded the entire three octave marimba.
