I understand that as a teacher, my job is to not just teach the instrument or a song, but to inspire a deep, passionate love for music. The teachers that had the biggest impact on me and that I enjoyed the most were the ones who cared the most about my relationship to the music I was playing. Because of this, I make sure the student is always engaged in what they are playing and are enjoying it. Read More

My teaching style is student-driven. I want to know what you are setting out to accomplish with your instrument of choice so I can help you to achieve your goals. There are many techniques I know that will help you to master basic skills on your instrument as well as the more individualized skills you will need to excel in your particular style of music. I can't wait to hear about what excites YOU most about music so I can help you to become the kind of musician you want to be. I do expect students to practice between lessons. Read More

Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. By trying to find out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs. Read More

As a drummer, I keep a smooth shuffle currently for 3 different rhythm blues bands who perform around New Orleans' Frenchmen Street and other top venues. I've also clocked studio sessions on bass, keys, violin, and viola. Viola and Violin came into my life as an adult and committed myself for 5+ to conquering the difficult fundamentals of these rewarding instruments. Currently in my spare time I enjoy learning baroque and classical music on piano. Read More

For me, it's about building or finding moments. Finding out what is going to motivate you to learn that song, practice that chord, and try to instill the desire to show it off for next time. Once I find out where the student is at, wether they are learning their first chords or songs, or they have been trying for a while or just getting back to their old habit of picking up the instrument, the goal is to set the mark where one will wait eagerly for the next lesson, to show off their new found skill. I was raised in a musical family. My father, brother, and sister all played guitar. I began playing drums in the school band at ten years old. At twelve I got my first drum set. At fourteen I began playing in a band and started playing shows. In college I played drums in four different bands playing shows all over the city. After college I played with a punk band, a psychedelic rock band, a folk-rock band and an R&B artist. Read More
