As an educator, I graduated from Mansfield University of Pennsylvania in May 2020, studying under professors such as Dr. Sheryl Monkelien, Dr. Nathan Rinnert, Mr. Conrad Alexander, and much more. Throughout college, I taught private lessons with guitar, drums, and mallet percussion with local students. I am an active performer with the Pennsylvania National Guard 28th ID Band, and have been playing with the band for over 2 years as a percussionist. Read More

For beginning piano students, I use a combination of books from Alfred's, Faber, John Thompson's. At the same time, I emphasize proper finger technique, shape, and position. For more advanced piano students I prefer exercises from Hanon, Czerny, and Bartk. For beginning guitar students, I prefer Mel Bay books. However, for guitar students I also use a much more individual and custom approach for learning how to get a good sound out of the guitar through proper hand position, finger placement and pressure, and string picking. I have been playing andteaching in the Baltimore - Washington area since 1977,and have performed for the Smithsonian Institution, the Governor of Marylandand the White House. These experiences, along with my education courses, helped shape the way I teach. Every student is different, which is why I love customizing a long term plan that is right for THEM. Helping to fulfill a student's dream is a satisfaction that never grows old, and it is always a thrill when a student masters a musical challenge! Read More

Music has always been a passion of mine. Most of what I know to do is performing and creating music. I find it rewarding to share and work with my students to instill that same appreciation for music. Upon graduation from East Stroudsburg University, I received a degree in Fine Arts. My main instrument of study in school was classical guitar. After graduation I became inspired to devote my life to teaching. Read More
Instruments: Guitar Voice
At the beginning of my musical journey I considered myself as a guitarist that can also sing. But to be honest during those years I didnt really like my voice. I didnt have a very wide range, high notes were always difficult for me and I didnt believe that the sound of my voice was actually good. I usually end up tired and exhausted. Just a couple of hours of rehearsal was enough for me. Read More

Firstly, I teach the student the anatomy of the guitar and how to tune it, along with how to hold a pick. After that, I start teaching students how to identify notes on the fretboard. When they have a good grasp on that, I start to teach the basic modes, such as the major, minor, pentatonic, blues, lydian, mixolydian, and dorian modes, and while they are learning these, I give them exercises that use these modes to increase the student's mechanical skill, such as going up and down the scales in patterns of three/four/etc. Read More

My teaching methods focus on building on the fundamentals of embodied proficiency with music (not just how to "read what's on the page", but first how to feel and delve into what's happening with all the moving parts and their many relationalities). For both children and adult students, before getting into structures and representations, the starting point will be the embodied feelings and experiences of and around music. In the first lesson, even my absolutely-beginner students will be having fun jamming, exploring and applying newly-learned things before we even talk about what a major scale is. Read More
