My teaching can be broken up into two columns: the craftsman and the artist. The craftsman column is all about chords, scales, and technique. The artist column is all about musicality and expression. I believe that learning through songs you love is one of the best and most fun methods of learning and understanding an instrument. The musical devices that are used in all your favorite songs are universal to music, so you'll be learning techniques just by playing along to your favorite songs! Read More

Through Instagram, I have been able to find opportunities to teach and help other talented musicians throughout the world. I have learned that combining simple music theory and basic guitar methods for students of beginner levels can really help them skyrocket with their musical ambitions! I know it has helped me a lot, and everyone else I have ever worked with or taught. I love playing music and helping others with it so much because I know that not only will it make the student better, but it also tends to teach me a ton of new things too! Read More

My teaching style very catered to the experience of the person learning the instrument. I think it's very important that the lessons move at the pace of which the student appears to be learning. The style of music the student wants to learn is rarely steered away from, I feel that too many teachers force students to learn songs outside their preferred genre just because the song is well known. I believe goals are very important in order to progress. However, each student progresses at their own pace. I like setting small goals weekly, and often times incorporate techniques into songs. Seeing students achieve their goals is one of the most rewarding aspects of the job. I'll ask students to bring pencil and paper to each lesson and will designate technical goals, fretboard knowledge, and whatever the student's goal is (learning a song, another scale, solo part, etc).
