I've always believed that learning comes 50% from the teacher, and 50% from the student. I do teach through lesson books but I've always found that they're better used as a guide rather than the focus of every lesson. I like to give the students the freedom to learn what they want to learn. I've always been willing to go the extra mile for my students, not just show up every week and continue from page 20 to see how far we get in the lesson book. Read More

My teaching experience dates back to my time in high school where I taught a few of my peers in informal lessons, this evolved into adopting a few more formal students that I taught through highschool until they reached an advanced level. I have also helped several of my students grow into songwriting outside of just playing an instrument. I also have experience teaching basic music theory. And have played and love teaching many genres. Read More

I've been teaching for over 4 years with this last year at Guitar Center in Ogden. I love teaching and finding ways to motivate and get my students excited about learning and progressing on their instrument. I focus on developing a personalized curriculum for each of my students and helping them work toward their musical goals - whether it be casual strumming or more serious pursuits. I teach foundational music theory, fretboard, knowledge, reading/understanding tablature and also basic instrument maintenance. Read More

My teaching curriculum generally involves a degree of structure mixed with topics of student interest. For example, there are certain aspects of music that any student should probably learn in order to gain a true understanding of musicianship. Likewise, I certainly understand that it is important to find joy in the journey, and to tailor guitar lessons to each individual student. My hope is that each of my students will come away with a quality education in music. Read More

My experience as a teacher covers teaching guitar to beginners and intermediate level children and adults. As a private teacher, I usually go to the student's preferred location to teach. Here in America, I also worked as a teacher's aide at Sterling Elementary School in Tooele-UT. This experience gave me even more ease in teaching children, who naturally need a very attentive and patient approach. I believe that my role as a teacher is for the student to learn to play the instrument in an easy, pleasant and intuitive way, based on theoretical and practical learning in an combined way. Taking lessons with Damon Carlucci, I learned how to delve into genres for music knowledge. Here I also learned Jazz and what it meant to be a Jazz musician. Ever since then, I have been using what I have learned to see the notes I want to play on the fretboard and adapt it to whatever setting, feeling or group I am playing in.
