I include the parents as well in this conversation for the younger students, as I find that some parents want their children to learn how to read beginning at a young age. After relocating to Dallas/Fort Worth, TX, I went on to play in various bands, ranging from all cover/variety bands, to all original bands, and everything in between, with range in many styles including blues, rock, country, folk, jazz, classical, and reggae. I have toured regionally around Texas, Arkansas, Tennessee, and Louisiana, and have been on two European trips to play. I have a different method for every level student. I start beginners with Hal Leonard's or Mel Bay's Guitar Method books. These books are clear to any age and can be picked up by any student. After these books have been completed, I introduce popular single melody, guitar technique and full tab/sheet solo repertoire books.
