After starting college in 2009, I began formally teaching percussion privately and in groups at high schools in my area. I have since expanded to teaching guitar, bass guitar, and composition, incorporating compositional elements into all of my lessons. By High School, I had already formed three bands, and composed & recorded a solo album on my own. In 2013, I started my music degree at the University of Colorado Denver, and graduated in 2018. I’ve learned many different instruments since I got involved in music, but guitar is my main instrument. However, what I find most gratifying about music is the combination of multiple instruments together, forming an arrangement. The most important part in my teaching style is my ability to cater the lessons to each individual student. Not every student is on the same level or interested in the same things. It's important to keep the student interested and help them truly uncover their passion for music by letting them lead me to the appropriate places they want to go. For beginner students, I start with some fundamental basics but I always try to keep the information relatable to each individual student no matter what their skill level. I take a very individualized approach for each student and tailor the lessons just for them depending on what the student is interested in and their skill level. I like to teach by demonstrating information through songs that each student enjoys.
