I started teaching music lessons about five years ago. I was a Pastor of Worship and Youth at a church, and I started giving voice and guitar lessons to students who were interested. As I continued to do this, I found that I loved seeing my students progress and become wonderful musicians. My method of teaching is to start students with a strong foundation of buzzing and making characteristic sounds on the horn. This includes buzzing with and without the mouthpiece. Also, my students must be able to read music. Reading music is very important to me, having the students be musically literate with a decent tone will take a student far in their musical career. After this has been satisfied, I have the students blow using a breathing exercise. From this, I have the students play the first three notes out of their Habits of Good Musician Book 1.
