For entry level students such as children, I will teach them out of a method book to get them started. They will learn all the fundamentals the proper way to hold the instrument and tuning. And once they have improved to the point where have the ability to learn songs they will be taught the songs they will love to play. I began teaching private French horn students in 2011, and I have been teaching music in various ways since then. I have been both a general music and a band teacher, working with students in Preschool through Eighth Grade. With my private students I emphasize regular practice as the best way to improve and keep having fun with an instrument. In Charleston, SC, I was faculty at the Charleston Academy of Music for almost 6 years.My students range from age 3 to adults, and have won local and state competitions. In 2010 I formed a piano duo, and have since been invited as guest faculty in the Chicago Duo Piano Festival and Charleston Music Teachers' Association. I have performed in Asia, Europe and in the United States and have met many internationally acclaimed pianists and pedagogues, and I bring with me the experiences I have amassed over the years.
