I normally start out with the Faber and Faber Piano Adventures methods books for the piano students. This includes a lesson book and a theory book. The lesson book will teach the student the physical skill of playing piano by presenting them with leveled songs to learn. The theory book will focus more on the mechanics of music and playing and require some written work. Again, my teaching style reflects my own experience. I learned the most from the teachers that recognized that the trumpet is an incredibly phisical instrument and each player brings a different physique to the instrument. A recognition of each player's strengths and weaknesses, both physically and mentally, allows me to be the most effective by targeting techniques that work and finding new approaches to those that do not. Shortly after graduating from Otterbein University, I became a certified substitute teacher for three consecutive school years (2012-2015). While pursuing my career in music, I also greatly enjoyed my time in the classroom. I was certified to teach grades K-12 and worked at dozens of different school districts in the Columbus, OH area.
