Instruments: Drums

I am a creative and encouraging instructor who loves helping students discover their own abilities. I have been playing drums for over 13 years, and have been in numerous projects in a range of genres in recent years, even including some contributions to a film score. Growing up in a family of musicians and teachers, a love for music and music education is baked into my heart. I have developed a unique style of drumming that is well adapted to many styles of music, and is based around creating smaller phrases to support larger ideas in the song. Read More

Instruments: Voice Saxophone Clarinet

I like to use a wide variety of materials, from classical to jazz music.  CLARINET: For clarinet students, I use "standard" conservatory etude and scale books (such as the Rose Studies and Behrmann Studies).  I also use the Jamey Abersold Jazz Methods, which feature CD 'play-a-long' recordings of jazz music.  I also have my students perform a wide range of solo music, from 'standards' like the Mozart Clarinet Concerto to 20th century repertoire by composers like Bernstein, Copland and others.  I think it is important for students to be able to play jazz and improvise, so I teach them about Blues and how to play jazz, as well as classical music. Instruments: Guitar Ukulele Electric Guitar Classical Guitar Acoustic Guitar

I've been teaching guitar from the time I got my driver's license at 16 years old. Throughout my teens and my college years I worked as a freelancer, teaching students in their homes. After college I spent several summers teaching group lessons at a family summer resort as well as spending some time teaching in a guitar shop in Los Angeles. These days I teach students locally in Southern Oregon as well as students all around the world through Skype! Read More

Instruments: Piano

Hi, My name is Will. I love working with beginner students as well as those who have already developed their musical skills. I'm an easy-going person who feels that music should be enjoyed, but also encourages students to challenge themselves and reach for their highest potential. I have found that when students like the pieces they are playing, they will put more effort into learning them and therefore will develop their skills more quickly and completely. Read More

I encourage students to focus on their personal expression and growth as a musician. While I select pieces for students based on their skill level and ability to take challenges effectively, students are given the freedom to browse their own musical library or lexicon to perform music they enjoy or is moving to them. Since many modern songs can be found without sheet music or proper notation for each instrument, I arrange pieces and songs for students' instruments as close to the recorded version as possible. Instruments: Voice Flute

For beginning Flute students who are children, I typically start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements.  Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their firset recital performance.  For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level.
