I have three areas of emphasis in my teaching: provide the student with a balanced repertoire, demand correct technique, and require a solid foundation in music theory.  I will provide my students with opportunities to participate in recitals, festivals, contests, and state theory exams. Depending on my student's age and skill level I usually have them begin with Suzuki books, Essential Elements books, or a combination of the two. As students advance I often incorporate etudes and/or exercises by Lee, Dotzauer, Galamian, Mooney, Sevcik, Duport, and Popper. While ear training is an essential skill that I teach to all of my students, the younger a student is the more I'll have them "play by ear" instead of reading sheet music. Read More

I got my first guitar in the summer of 2001 and found the guitar was a great hobby when I was bored and couldn't find anything else to do. My passion for the guitar grew exponentially when I started getting better at it. I recieved only a few lessons from private intructors before I went to college and learn how to 'really' play the guitar. Daniel has just completed his graduate degree from the University of Hawaii in 2012, with a Masters of Music Education degree with emphasis in instrumental music. While attending the University of Hawaii, he had the pleasure of working with Dr. Barbara McLain and completing his research study in Music Education. I have been playing the flute for the past decade, and I have taught part time at a local middle school since my freshman year of college. Ive always wanted to help others become more successful, especially since during my freshman and sophomore years of high school, I did not have a lesson teacher of my own, so I often had to work alone.
