I'm a passionate musician who eats, sleeps, and breathes music. The minute I had a guitar in my hand since I was 14, I never stopped falling in love with the instrument. While I graduated in 2015 with a Bachelors of Science degree at the University of Illinois at Chicago, I was performing with local musicians around the area and taking jazz lessons with faculty and students within the university. Since moving to Detroit at the end of 2015, I have become integrated within the local Detroit music scene, playing with two bands currently, which have played music festivals such as the Hamtramck Music Festival and the Detroit Concert of Colors. One of things I that I find discouraging is when teachers stick with one method. Every student is different! As a result, my method of teaching very much depends on the student. If I have a student who is struggling with fundamentals, then we will focus on fundamentals. If I have a student who is struggling with articulations, then we will focus on articulations in lessons. I studied flute for about a year while playing valve trombone in local Detroit area bands. Mostly I have studied flute through personal study and affiliations with musicians with similar interests (improvisatory music). My formal studies were mainly low brass, then voice (two years private instruction at Wayne State University). I feel that my qualifications pale when compared to learning from "jam session" and playing jobs locally I feel "blessed" being able to share my music and views concerning the arts with friends and students.
