When teaching classical piano, I use technique books like Hanon, Pischna for advanced beginners and intermediate. Material can range from Bach, Beethoven, Schumann etc. Contemporary methods usually from an approved song book or possibly a show tune. Each lesson begins with a chat while we gently stretch, breathe and prepare your body to sing. Singers are attached to their instrument and so getting your mind focused and getting comfortable in the singing space allows us to have as productive a lesson as we can. We work on vocalizes and technique next- to properly warm you up and strengthen your instrument. First its the posture method and focus control which basically is meditation applied in the musical field and the right synchronization with the tongue and breathe. the next method(s) is focusing on the students embouchure. then i like the yamaha book for starters and a couple other good books. I also like to spend some lessons just working on sound and free lancing as well as other lessons dedicated to sight reading, musical phrasing, articulation, styles of music...ect...I also have days where we have music appreciation by taking them on trips.
