I like to create lesson plans around what kind of music the student wants to learn. For example, most young girls want to learn Disney princess songs. So I print them off their own copies of the songs that they had expressed an interest in learning. I feel like if the student is not interested in playing or singing the music that I am giving them it could be the best curriculum in the world, but it won't help them learn if they are not actively engaged in the music they are singing or playing. I started my own studio at the age of 23. I found this to be one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. In 2000, I entered the Music Education program at The University of Memphis. I continue to teach privately. I have taught children as young as 5 to adults of the age of 72. I have also taught string orchestra for 12 years. After 20 years of teaching, I still have a strong desire to share my knowledge and love of music with others. Read More

I believe that half of the joy of making music is sharing it with others. In 2011, I graduated from Howard Payne University with a degree in music education, where I often performed lead roles in production spanning from "Bye, Bye Birdie," to "Gianni Schicchi." I am currently pursuing an advanced degree in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy from UTSA, and am projected to graduate in Spring 2015. I have had the opportunity to perform both around the State of Texas, as well as in Italy. Read More

An instrument is your personality and I work close on my students progress throughout the time before they know it they are ready for their first band setting. I like to push my students to the next level and to their potential not all students are cut out for this business it takes a lot more than a pat on the back my students have to realize if their goal is be a music teacher or a hobby weekend musician than yeah you might want to go with the more structured teacher but if your in this to be an artist than I'm that guy. My teaching experience dates back to my high school years, as I have 20 years of teaching private lessons, along with 10 years of band and orchestra teaching. Individually, I have taught piano along with band instruments such as flute, clarinet, trumpet, trombone, saxophone and percussion. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument.
