Because every student has his/her own learning style, my lessons cater to those styles. I figure out a student's strengths and weaknesses. I acknowledge the accomplishments caused by the strengths while I focus on developing the weaknesses. For example, if a student excels melodically but has trouble maintaining accurate rhythm, I will engage the student in listening to and playing many interesting melodies that require him/her to pay close attention to counting the rhythms in order to master playing the melodies. I am a vibrant forward thinking music teacher with a lot to offer a young musician. For the past twenty years music has been the center of my life. My experiences include local and international performances. In my experiences I have also had the chance to perform at famous concert halls such as Symphony Space, Avery Fischer Hall and Carnegie Hall. Currently I am a full time music instructor in public school and do my best to pass on my passion of music to my students! Read More
Instruments: Piano
I have taught children and adults. I especially delight in helping beginners discover the beauties of music, the keyboard instruments and their classical repertoire, and the basics of music notation. Some of my students have been music majors who went on to become music professionals. Others have been non majors who wanted to learn music in order to expand their cultural horizons, experience the discipline and pleasures of performing an instrument and to learn to perform the pieces they always wanted to play. I encourage parents to teach their children music from young age. Most of my students are kids from age 5-13, level starting from novice to intermediate. I have been practicing tutoring piano for 5 years and voice for 3 years. My teaching style not only includes standard piano playing skills, but also sheet music reading, musical hearing, and proper playing techniques. In regards to voice lessons, I am strongly convinced that knowing musical theory basics significantly improves understanding of vocal basics. Read More

In highschool I worked with a music mentoring program. I would travel to local elementary schools and teach children from 2nd to 4th grade violin in small groups. This cultivated my love of teaching. Though in college I never had the opportunity to teach privately due to my busy schedule, during breaks I would often give masterclass style lessons to students of my former teacher Michael Bandimere when they were preparing for performances or auditions. Instruments: Cello
My teaching style is a combination of Suzuki method and traditional method. Having learned with the traditional method, I feel it is vital and extremely important for students to learn to read music from the point at which they start reading books and words, this is typically at age 5. For students under age 5 we begin learning everything by ear, once they start reading we introduce reading notes. I'm passionate about having a parent present for every lesson as it is extremely important that a parent or caretaker learn the material so they can be the teacher at home during the week for practice sessions. Piano - I typically start with Dozen A Day and books that stress technique. At the onset, I believe that hand position is incredibly important, so I make sure to pick exercises and etudes that reflect that importance. After that, I like to move onto the Faber series so that students can have exposure to a bunch of different styles, including jazz, classical, rock and pop. Guitar - Like piano, technique is where I begin. Read More
