I have been drumming since I was 6 years old (currently 19) and have taking classes and professional training, as well completed several certifications. I studied both western music and Indian Bollywood and some Indian classical music, amongst latino and Caribbean styles of music. Therefore, I would say I'm pretty well versed in different styles of playing and cultures. Furthermore, I also have studied the rudiments and can help teach marching band type of drumming. Read More

I began teaching when I was 17 after I made friends who were younger through the mariachi summer camp. I taught music theory and the overall style of how to learn and build chords based on key signatures. Being able to show these kids so much about their instrument made me want to some day become a good tutor for someone else in need of lessons that are straight forward and to the point without having to worry about a tutor that's hard to work with. I have studied vocal performance for about 15 years now, and I've got experience teaching all styles, from classical and musical theater to rock, pop, jazz, country, and various folk styles. I have had years of dedicated study to performance techniques, general musicianship skills, and the mechanics of the the singing process. I have over 75 Five-Star reviews across various online platforms that speak to my effectiveness, and many of them note my attention to detail and warm, welcoming environment. Read More

For the beginning string player I like to start with a Hal Leonard method book to communicate and help string players master the basics. Once the student has progressed I will begin some solo repertoire from varying genres. I find it is always helpful to allow students to play music that they enjoy - experiencing a range of both popular and classical pieces to broaden their horizons. I encourage my students to do a lot of listening as a part of their practice. Read More

With children, I typically start with Essential Elements for Strings by Michael Allen, Robert Gillespie and Pamela Tellejohn Hayes. I complement that with the Suzuki method and other fun easy songs I have picked through the years of experience . Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce etudes, scales, vibrato and eventually shifting; and of course solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. Instruments: Clarinet
No matter what age, any starting clarinetist needs to understand the fundamentals of the clarinet. Once these fundamentals are acquired, we move on to the basics of reading music and playing the clarinet such as learning the circle of fourths and practicing pieces of music that is from a certain major scale. Ear training and music theory will also be involved in each lesson to understand music further. Each lesson is fun filled and packed with many activities to motivate my students to love music and have a passion for playing the clarinet. Read More

I usually see what level the student is on and we go from there. The age and interest of the students will also tell me which way to go in the lesson. Usually with beginner students the Hal Leonard book is a good place to start but I'm willing to start with any beginning book. If the students are just interested in one specific thing then we focus on that. Read More
