I place special importance on relaxation techniques and mindfulness practices that not only enable students to perform better but also allow them to enjoy playing more. I am also a huge advocate for rest - it is such an important part of the learning process and it is essential to becoming a balanced musician (and human!). I offer my students the opportunity to lead and be responsible for their own learning. Read More

I have over 16 years of playing experience and 10 years teaching both privately and in schools and programs, so I possess a perfect combination of musical and educational experience to best teach you. I have taught privately since studying at Berklee, offering tailored lessons to my students based on their goals, taste in music and unique personality. I'm comfortable teaching all ages, having had extensive experience with both K-12 and teaching adults, I know how to scale lessons back and scaffold for younger students and how to expand and challenge older, more experienced students. I have been teaching in both private studio and public schools since 2012 from K-12, high schools and college levels. I like sharing my passion for music to students that are willing to learn and enjoy the same love for music. I am currently teaching at San Francisco State University as a Assistant Professor in the Music department for both Undergrad and Graduate levels in Viola (soloists) and Chamber Music as well as private students at my own studio. I taught music for several years in college as part of arts mentorship programs conducted in Trenton. In general I believe that music education should be inclusive and accessible to people of all backgrounds and skill levels, and I also believe strengthening foundational technique by encouraging regular practice of scales and exercises is very important. In addition to teaching classical repertoire, I'm also open to teaching any genre of music that a student might be interested in – the flute is really versatile and I'd love to work with students to explore their interests more! I Love teaching music, and love helping others progress on their musical journeys! I've played music for as long as I can remember, and spent my childhood learning just about every instrument I could get my hands on. As a young adult, I rigorously practiced piano and studied music theory, eventually writing an 80 page thesis analyzing jazz piano improvisation in college. Now, I like to spread my love of music by showing others how much joy it has brought to my life, and helping them to experience that same joy. Read More

I do not believe in a uniform approach for each person. Being in the right environment means everything for someone who is about to begin learning an instrument, be it his or her first encounter or not. This will manifest differently for each person. First impressions do mean everything in this case and that is why I am proud to say that anyone who has ever formally or informally attempted to find their embouchure with me or in front of me succeeded to find their voice. Instruments: Piano Trombone
Trombone - I utilize the books Abrams and Rochut-Melodious Etudes. I develop custom curriculum for each students level and learning style. At the first lesson, I evaluate what the student wants to get out of the lessons, what sparks their interests in music, and skill level. From there, I share exercises from the books, exercises I create for developing certain skills, and later on, creation or exercises by the student. Read More
