For beginning students I start with Bastian Piano series. It has 4 books including piano, performance, technique and theory, which helps the student to have a full comprehension of piano playing. I will test students and then select a level to start. Once they complete the highest level, I will introduce solo repertoires and Hanon and Carl Czerny to enhence their skills. I offer a traditional string class. It includes Essential Elements and Suzuki Books. I also have recommended materials for diverse and interesting cello studies. I like to work with children of all ages and I enjoy helping them develop new skills, especially in the area of music performance. When the student performs the pieces that they have practiced I will what to see if they have all the correct fingerings and hit all the correct notes on the correct frets and strings. I am very good at music theory and history, and I will talk about this a little if it is relevant to how to perform the piece. For the past decade I have been performing with the U.S. Navy Music Program in places like Australia, Japan, Costa Rica, New Orleans, and Norfolk, Virginia. I've been a featured soloist on clarinet and saxophone with concert bands, jazz bands, rock groups, and brass bands.
