I generally use different methods with different students. Since I expect excellence, I tend to treat students as professional colleagues, expecting them to work as hard and effectively as I do. I tend to develop my own methods as we progress, encouraging introspection by the student and developing a sense of musical independence. Success is subjective; enjoying one's journey is not. If a student is not enjoying the process then what's the use? Read More

I like to first assess where the student is at experience wise as well as what their personal goals are. If they are just starting to play guitar I can show them chords and songs that are not too difficult and help them develop their style from the get go. If they are a little more advanced and have a grasp already on certain techniques and scales then I can help guide their interests more and help them realize their goals whether it be songwriting based or performance based I feel my method can help anyone interested. I use a wide variety of methods depending on the student's current ability level, musical preferences, and goals. I'm also willing to work with a method or book that a student is currently using. I like to approach vocal lessons from a technical and holistic standpoint. A typical lesson for me usually begins with whatever warm-ups and exercises I feel fit our goals, and a check in to see how you're doing and if there is anything in particular you want to focus on improving. I have a lot of really effective exercises that'll get your voice where you need it to go! I work a lot with placement and support in my singing lessons, and I use a lot of visualization techniques to get you in the right placement. Read More
Instruments: Drums
During the first lesson I always assess where the student is the learning timeline with their instrument. I also find out what the student's goals are with music. Once this has been established we work on a plan of action to acheive those goals. Since the vast majority of drum students are primarily interested in learning drumset skills, we will start working on this from the very first lesson. I tend to break drumset studies into these general groups: skills and technique, independence and coordination, groove studies, and reading. Read More
