I was my own first student. I began teaching myself how to play the piano over 10 years ago. Throughout this process I learned how to approach some typically confusing topics in much more digestible ways. A benefit to starting out as a self taught musician is that I had to learn how to make sense of things myself rather than memorizing information that a teacher fed me. I am an experienced teacher, performer, and coach for all types of vocal music. In May 2015, I completed my Masters of Music in Voice Performance from the University of Denver's Lamont School of Music. I have experience performing both operatic and musical theater roles; recently, I have been performing as a concert soloist with orchestras around the Denver area. At the start of the lesson, I will emphasize tone and air control which I've found makes a huge difference as a warm up. The primary books I will work out of are Hal Leonard's Essential Elements. As students progress and I feel that they have a handle on the basics, I will slowly start to incorporate other repertoire that will be exciting to play and perform.
