I realize that each student is different, so I treat them as individuals. However, I do stress regular daily practice, even for short time periods. Regularity in practice is more important than long practice periods in my experience. I try to apply the three T's in my own playing and gradually incorporate these into my teaching, TASTE, TONE and TECHNIQUE. I enjoy seeing students progress because it reassures me that I understand the subject well, You have to know a subject 3 times as well if you teach it because a student will always ask a question you never thought of. I have three different sets of books for new students that are children; so if you have more than one starting lessons, you can hear different songs. I typically use Piano Adventures, Bastien, or Alfred, although Piano Adventures is my favorite. I suggest the lesson book, theory book and technique books be usedsimultaneously to give the student the most well-rounded lesson. For adults or even teenagers, I like to learn about what interests them musically and work towards that style or song. Read More

There is nothing more satisfying than to see my students achieve their goals and develop an increasing love for music.Some students learn extremely fast, and some may learn at a slower pace than others.I am indeed a very patient and understanding instructor.People may have certain obstacles that may stand in their way of learning.That is the reason why I make myself available to talk to anyone with questions or certain concerns they may want to discuss.As time progress and I start to see their talent developing I often invite them to come to my live performances and sit in with the band.This helps to develop their craft and hopefully increase their self esteem and perseverance.Playing for your first audience can be a little scary, but once you've gotten through that initial performance, is undoubtedly a great achievement.
