For all students it is essential that they grasp the fundamentals, doing this well be invaluable in the future and so ensuring correct technique, solid time and feel are important to me. No matter the age or ability the emphasis on learning whilst enjoying is key. Read More

Within a month, you should be able to play all the notes of the C Major scale. I will be available to answer any questions you might have, and I will make sure that you start out with the correct mouth shape, or "embouchure". This is critical to establish and get right at first, so I will make sure you start playing correctly, with correct hand placements, and such. I can teach beginner level, as well as intermediate techniques, with how to play higher, practicing techniques, and a daily plan to work on .I will provide materials, technical exercises, lip buzzing, lip slurs, and more! I begin all students with the appropiate level of the Alfred's method. If they have had training with another method, I work to blend that method with the Alfred's method during the first month or two of lessons. Once the student has learned the fundamentals, I introduce them to the solo repertoire appropriate for their level and their genre of greatest interest to them. I hold a recital once a year to give students experience in performance. Read More

As previously stated, I love sharing my passion for music and piano with my students! With that being said, watching my students grow as a musician is truly an amazing experience to be apart of! I love to have a good balance with my students of working with technique but also working on something that is fun to play or something of the students pick so that the interest and motivation to play is as high as possible. Everything is set in accordance with the student's needs, aspirations and interests. I will help to create realistic goals and schedules, but at the end the student is the boss. Nothing is imposed, nothing is reached if the student did not ask for it. That way I make sure that progress is organic and the student will have a better understanding of why things are done in certain ways when they keep getting better. Read More

I like to start by exploring where the student is at in their musical education and what they are looking to study in private lessons. From there, we build the lesson around them! Once we’ve established where to begin, I’ll ask the student to choose a piece they’d like to perform and I’ll assign them a piece of my own choice as well. For my classical students I'll typically start with art song repertoire and for musical theatre I'll choose a classic piece. Read More
