I draw inspiration largely from my Rudolf Steiner-inspired pre-college education and my Carl Orff-inspired higher education. Waldorf/Steiner education "emphasizes the role of imagination in learning, striving to integrate holistically the intellectual, practical, and artistic development of pupils" while the Orff Approach "combines music, movement, drama, and speech into lessons that are similar to child's world of play." I studied performance as a singer at Rimon School of Music, where I got to sing in different genres and ensembles. There I also studied voice pedagogy and have been volunteering as a voice teacher for kids and teenagers who can not afford lessons. When I graduated I found myself teaching 6 days a week in different music studios in the country, gaining experience with different ages and levels of experience. Read More

For all beginning students, I like to start out with buzzing exercises and embouchure technique. This is the most fundamental part of brass playing. Having a strong foundation in creating a sound consistently and efficiently makes learning everything else about brass playing infinitely easier. For this, I use the Arban method book and the "Buzzing Book" by James Thompson. Once these fundamentals start to become comfortable, I like to introduce some simple songs to apply the new techniques to. Read More

I am currently a part of the graduate quartet-in-residence at Montclair State University. I have had many students go on to pursuit music in college and in summer festivals including; Read More

My objective especially for younger learners is to keep my students both engaged and having fun. I have taught children piano, general music, and guitar in Chinatown NYC to as far south as Trinidad where I led a master class for elementary students. Read More

For beginner students, I like to work on positioning the instrument, proper bow hold, and simple string crossing exercises. A great beginners book is the quick steps to note reading. I believe beginner students should be practicing with this book every day. When they are ready to start learning pieces, I really like to use the Suzuki books. This works for both young beginners and adult beginners. For students who are more advanced, I am adamant about them practicing scales and etudes. Read More
