This makes practice more enjoyable, and gives the student more pieces (as opposed to exercises) to play for family and friends while still building on their skills and keeping them challenged. Having had so much experience with so many apposing methods, I myself have learned that there are as many different types of learners as there are types of people, so it is best to let the student show you what works for them.
