Having studied under a number of very different teachers, I have learned that motivation to practice comes and goes, but passion is what builds a lasting foundation for musicianship. For beginning piano students, I use Alfred's All-in-one Piano Course books. These books combine repertoire and theory, thereby cutting down on the number of books a new student needs to purchase. I use a variety of materials for voice students. I may ask that my voice students purchase books of repertoire that contain songs useful for building on their strengths and working on their weaknesses.
