For beginners, I have a special system that implements coordination while utilizing proper counting technique. As their understanding of their limbs grows the more I begin to welcome actual musical notation. This system has proven time and time again to tackle the initial issue that coordination imposes. In intermediate to advanced students I stress the importance of technique, quality of sound, coordination, visualization, and relaxation/movement. When I teach beginning students who are children, I start with the Bastien Piano Basics or Alfred Basic Piano.  This way, I make sure that my students learn and understand the fundamentals and basics of piano and music.  After they learn from several levels of these method books, I introduce easy pieces by classical composers from Easy Piano Classics by Bastien or Easy Piano Classics edited by Agay, followed by Sonatinas by Clementi, Kuhnau, Haydn, and Mozart. I've been teaching since I was playing in bands in High School, helping my friends and those who were of interest, find themselves enjoying themselves by learning and playing the music that interests and drives them the most.
