For beginners, I have a special system that implements coordination while utilizing proper counting technique. As their understanding of their limbs grows the more I begin to welcome actual musical notation. This system has proven time and time again to tackle the initial issue that coordination imposes. In intermediate to advanced students I stress the importance of technique, quality of sound, coordination, visualization, and relaxation/movement. I'm a professional musician, composer and producer born and raised in Philadelphia, Pa. I began my music studies at Philadelphia's Clef Club of Jazz and Performing Arts where I learned about Jazz theory and performance. I then studied guitar at the Philadelphia High School for Creative and Performing Arts, and received his Bachelors from Temple University in Media Studies and Production. For students who are children I like to start to start learning rhythms through common children’s songs to show how easy music can be. Depending on the instrument, one of the many Hal Leonard books is always a good option. If they are a little older, I will use music that they like to teach how music theory and fundamental skills makes up all the musi they enjoy. We will often learn songs that speak to them and I will use their favorite genres to curate new songs to teach and show them new material and how it relates to their instrument. Read More
