I believe that it is important to take the time to get to know each student's needs and to set realistic goals that will set them up for long-term success. By paying attention to what inspires the student and how they take in information most effectively, I can successfully tailor my instruction. I am a fairly laid back person, and understand that my students have wide-ranging activities and priorities. I will always find a way to use the lesson time effectively regardless of the level of preparation that a student is able to commit to in a given week. Read More

I have been teaching private lessons for about 2 years, both for a company and privately. These lessons include beginner piano, voice, and violin. In my music therapy internship I have also had the experience of teaching adaptive piano, guitar, and ukulele lessons. Finally, while I am not yet board certified and cannot offer music therapy until next school year, I have over 1,000 hours of music therapy clinical experience in which I use musical activities to help clients achieve non-musical goals in the areas of cognition, emotion, physical abilities, communication, social skills and academics. Instruments: Voice Drums
I have performed with The Ritz, Jazz Harp Trio and Vocal Summit featuring Bobby McFerrin. I earned a Bachelor Music Education degree from Berklee College of Music and subsequently served as professor and Assistant Chair of the Voice Department during the final 10 years of my tenure there. I'm currently offering private instruction in contemporary singing, scat improvisation and my "instru-vocal" approach to trap set drumming. I'm interested in teaching all levels from novice to professional. Read More

With the Suzuki Method the students learn to play the instrument first, and to read music second, removing the obstacle of reading notation until the students learns some technique on the guitar. I have also taught students of varying ages using traditional teaching methods. I like to pace the lessons based on each individual student. I understand that students have other obligations and I do not believe music lessons should add stress to the students. Read More

My experience teaching started back in high school when I had to teach other students how to play percussion instruments in marching band about 10 years ago. I would teach them how to play snare drum, quads, bass drums, and mallet instruments. In my second year of college I would teach some students how to work in electronic music. I didn't really start doing private lessons, but group work. That changed 2 years ago when some neighbor kids asked me to teach them how to play snare drum. Read More
Instruments: Cello
I am currently about to complete my undergraduate degree at Wheaton College in Norton, MA. During my freshman year, I auditioned for and was accepted into the Boston Philharmonic Youth Orchestra. With this ensemble, I gained extensive training as a touring cellist in a large orchestra. We perfomed regularly in Symphony Hall Boston, Sander's Theatre Harvard, a tour to Carnegie Hall (reviewed by the NY Times and turned into a live recording for sale), as well as a tour to The Netherlands in June 2013 where we played in 5 cities culminating in a performance in the Concertgebouw Amsterdam.
