My teaching experience goes all the way back to 2003, when I was a percussion section leader in junior high school. I was a section leader throughout high school and on into my undergraduate degree in percussion. This involved both teaching groups of my peers but also giving individual attention to anyone who needed the extra help. My experience teaching goes back to high school in which I tutored students in multiple subjects including Spanish and English. I also would help my section to improve as a section leader. During my college years, I worked as a graduate teaching assistant which allowed me to help students primarily in music. Part of my duties included teaching smaller classes and tutoring students in music theory and ear training. For my teaching style, I have a very organic approach. The main goal as a teacher is to develop a passion for the instrument and the music. This is crucial for seeing any development at a decent pace in any student. What happens otherwise is that the student does not want to practice, or practicing without focus.
