During this time I would learn all of my favorite songs by ear or with the help of tabs. Students of all ages will work out of a technique/method book. Younger students will use Walter Beeler's Method for Cornet/Trumpet, more advanced students will play from Arban's. I emphasize a "classical" approach, especially with younger students to solidify their skills, encouraging intersted students to begin including jazz improvisation into their studies as their skills advance. I play solo performances regularly for a variety of social events. My students have gone on to pursue degrees in music and play in successful bands. My teaching experience started 5 years ago. I was a senior in high school and was teaching a beginning student the trombone. Throughout the past 5 years I have continued to teach students when I was able to. I encourage regular practice and maintaining a consistent schedule. I always say 10 minutes a day is better then 30 minutes every 3 days.
