My teaching experience started in 2016, when I founded my private teaching business, "Brenden N. Music". I taught private trumpet lessons, as well as student teaching in an AP Music Theory class. In 2017, I continued to teach privately, as well as working for the Oklahoma State University Youth Orchestra, acting as an extra set of ears and running wind sectionals. I most recently taught as a Brass Instructor at the Salvation Army Youth Education Town in Arlington, TX, where I worked with around 180 kids, ages 7-12, and directed three brass bands of varying skill. Like I said in my experience section. I believe that students of different ages that are just starting instruments will have different wants and needs. So my teaching style will change a bit. Younger students, such as children, should get a healthy mix of popular music and some form of 'classical' training, I am including Jazz and other genres in the 'classical' as there is large amounts of history and techniques to explore. My teaching experience began at the University of Tulsa. I taught voice to a few students who were non music majors for about a year. After graduating from the University of Tulsa, I began teaching at Brook Fine Arts Academy in Tulsa, Oklahoma. I taught over 30 students a week in both voice and piano (ages 3 to 20) for over a year. I welcome students of all ages from five years and up. My teaching experience began over 20 years ago when I taught voice lessons to several of the choir students at Choctaw High School. I am passionate about music and about helping find the unique approach for each student. Music Theory is the language of music and I focus a portion of each lesson learning that language. I began teaching myself to play Guitar as a teenager and eventually taught myself to play other instruments as well. During this time I would learn all of my favorite songs by ear or with the help of tabs. Once I had started attending the Academy of Contemporary Music I learned more advanced music theory that relates to general music and Guitar. During this time I met my first guitar teacher who inspired to learn more and more about theory and guitar and even taught me about the production and business side of music. Read More
