My teaching style can be adjusted to each particular student. Some students take piano lessons for relaxation, others are wanting to pursue a career in music. I can teach for both styles or even a combination of both styles. I set goals for each week that is provided in the piano homework or play work that I assign. I find this works very well. I had always had a knack for passing on bits of wisdom to bandmates and friends that were interested in picking up a bit of drums, but it wasn't until spring of 2024 that I decided to take the leap, and got a job teaching drum lessons at my local Guitar Center. My teaching style involves stressing feel, timing, and confidence over note-for-note accuracy. I try to teach the same way that I live my life, fun and happy. I want to make sure that the student grows in ability and passion for their instrument while progressing at their own pace and making sure that they grow and have realistic goals for where they are at that time of the lesson. I started teaching college age students as an Undergraduate as part of my vocal pedagogy class, and have also taught students for my Graduate vocal pedagogy class. I continued teaching some after the classes concluded. Early in 2013, I officially opened my own voice studio and have been taking new students ever since.
