I am a very motivated instructor who really loves helping students of all ages. I am orginally from the Midwest and moved to New York City to persue opera performing. Recently, my family and I relocated to the Buffalo area and I am looking forward to working with some of the local musicians. I like to have a nice blend between two general areas of study with my students.  I ideally like to spend half of the lesson time focusing on the more academic side of things and the other half on just playing tunes.  Academic material would include things like sight-reading and basic music theory to truly educate my student about music while playing tunes (of the student's choosing) is a way to make it more of a fun environment.  I feel that having this balance will alow me to train my students with a proper education while still being relaxed and having fun. I began my teaching career at the Castellani-Andriaccio Guitar Studios in Buffalo in 2017. I also teach at Music & Arts in Orchard Park, and serve as the primary instructor for the Hispanic Heritage Council Guitar Initiative. The Guitar Initiative is a non-profit afterschool program that provides free guitar and music theory lessons to children who otherwise would not have access. Im a pianist, composer, and dedicated music educator currently pursuing a PhD in Composition at SUNY Buffalo on a Teaching Fellowship. I received my BM from Oberlin Conservatory in Music Composition. Prior to my undergraduate studies I attended the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts, where I majored in trombone performance and studied both piano and composition privately. Having established the fundamentals, I like to introduce the student to a series of etudes and more challenging repertoire as the student develops. My teaching style is one of stern motivation. I expect that each student will take the personal pride to prepare for each lesson by practicing the required amount and the assigned music. I can expect this because despite having a full-time job, I still find the time to practice and prepare for all of my lessons and performances. For students of any level, I tend to always focus on mastering breathing and classical technique. I believe that it is imperative that students develop this way as it is fundamental to any true vocalist. My methods are quite particular to the individual and their natural strengths and weaknesses, but I approach every student with a tried and true structure that leads to fast and noticeable results. I also tend to use written material lending to the classical technique as a way to standardize practice times to structure individual progress outside of lesson time. Read More
