I am a piano/music teacher with an extensive experience of over 35 years.  I have been teaching many students over the years in my studio, in their homes, at Temple University – 30 years, in many Music Schools and Conservatories.  My students are children 6 and older and adults of every age.  I am always tailoring my teaching according to the needs and potentials of my students.  I motivate my students and encourage them to practice consistently and play.  I try to convey to my students my love and passion for music and the piano in order for them to be inspired and love the music that they practice and play.  I encourage my students to play in the recitals I organize and enter competitions in order to achieve results as well as enjoyment. I start each student with the Frances Clark Series. This is terrific in introducing all musical components to the learner. It starts off right away using ALL the notes on the piano. Black notes are used exclusively in some repertoire. Each building block is built upon the next and it just nicely adds , in a non-threatening way to what the student has learned before. I intersperse these books with other more seasonal books and the student and I build on that. Read More

Instruments: Double Bass

For young beginners, I assess the best approach - be it a particular method book or writing out my own studies geared toward the individual. From the first lesson, proper bow technique is emphasized, helping the student get a pleasing sound in the first lesson. For older students (teens and up), I teach to their goals and interests, welcoming and encouraging their input. Communication is vital. Beginning bass players will start with The Simandl Method regardless if Electric or Double Bass. This book has been the standard for decades and continues to help players find the foundation for their playing. As the student progresses we will start to add appropriate pieces for them to learn and perform. Electric players and Upright players can start choosing songs or pieces they want to learn. We will work with that so they feel they are accomplishing goals they want to accomplish and learning pieces they want to learn. Read More
